Happy New Year!

Hello fellow Pokemon players/ Clashers/ Campers/ Hikers! Thank you so much for 2500 views! I can't put it into words how much this means to me. I can't believe we went this far in the past year. We went form 0 views to 2500 views, that's incredible!

To celebrate the new year, I am going to give an ENTIRE booster box's worth (36 packs) of Phantom Forces booster packs in PTCGO Pokemon card codes, a Pokemon Card deck review, a celebratory Town Hall 8 Clash of Clans base (One for fun, one trophy base, and one war base), and a (for fun purposes only) camping gear review!

The Mill

This is probably the most fun deck I have ever seen. It mills, frustrates your opponent, and doesn't take a lot of time! Here is the list I found on 60cards:

Pokemon-8

3 HoundoomEX

3 Bunnelby

2 ShayminEX

Trainers-46

3 Professor Sycamore

2 Professor Birch's Observations

2 Shauna

2 Judge

2 Team Flare Grunt

2 Lysandre

1 Xerosic

1 AZ

1 Ace Trainer

4 VS Seeker

4 Ultra Ball

4 Crushing Hammer

4 Super Scoop Up

3 Trainers' Mail

3 Trick Shovel

3 Head Ringer

2 Assault Vest

2 Enhanced Hammer

1 Super Rod

Energy-6

6 Fire

I really like this list. It has two Pokemon that do the same thing, denies a lot, and (again) mills. This would be a perfect play for cities. Side note: I guarantee you all that Micheal C. will be playing this deck at a cities!

The only problem I see with this deck is the lack of energy. But I think the denial of resources makes up for that.

The Booster Box

Here are all 36 Phantom Forces Booster pack codes:

The Bases

This base is not meant for defense. Happy new year!

Fun rating: 10/5

This is General Tony's "The Cell" base. It has won me over 100 trophies in 4 hours.

Trophy Rating: 5/5

This is the best war base. It may have hardly anything on the outside on the top right side, but attackers still only get the one star on it.

War Rating: Dead Dragons, Dead Gowipe, Dead Archer Queen, Dead King, Dead Baloonion, Dead Goho

This Fires on FIA!!!!!!!!

This is the best way to celebrate the new year. Colored FIRE, not FIREWORKS.

Weight: 25 Grams

Cost: Too cheap

Size: Small

For Camping Purposes

I would definitely recommend this for camping. Who doesn't like colored fire?

Rating: 10/10

For Backpacking Purposes

Backpackers, I know you want a new years reward. Why not reward yourself with an amazing colored flame? It is so light you won't even notice it. DO IT!

Rating: 11/10

Once again thank you so much for 2500 views! Thanks for reading, happy new year, and until next time, test/clash/camp/hike on!

"Why you always losin'?"- Another double cities report!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! My name is Evan Smith and today I am going to give you another back-to-back cities report with TyrantrumEX!

Charolettesville
I seriously do not know how I pulled that win off...

I played TyrantrumEX for this cities. I had some help right before the tournament with revising my deck, and I was off to turn it in. Here are the changes I made (If you are looking for the original list go here and take the Escape Rope out for a Switch):

- 1 Buddy-Buddy Rescue

- 1 Level Ball

+ 1 Metal

+ 1 Super Rod

Round 1 Will w/ Night March

This was a quick game. I dead drew and he set up very quickly. *Regrets not using Judge over Sycamore.* Epic fail.

0-1-0

Round 2 Jon Eng w/ Yveltal/Bats

This was a close game. It went back and forth. Can't say anything else about this game.

1-1-0

Round 3 Rick (Will's brother) w/ ManectricEX

I got rid of all my Bronzongs early on in the game and Rick had a perfect set up. Tyrantrum why?!

1-2-0

Round 4 ??? w/ Fighting/Lightning

I didn't take this game that seriously due to me not making cut. I lost.

Final Record: 1-3-0

Place: 10th out of 12

Night Striker theme deck PTCGO Code: EJW-SVFW-VM7-G8H

Staunton

Let the truth be told about my cities run.

With some help from Shawn Cardella, I revised my Tyrantrum deck. Here are the changes I made:

- 1 Zorua

- 1 Zoroark

- 1 Bronzor

- 1 Hex Maniac

- 1 Sky Field

+ 1 Fighting

+ 1 AegislashEX

+ 1 Switch

+ 2 Parallel City

Round 1 Anthony Cardella w/ Vileplume/Regice/GlalieEX

This was a decent match up. I managed to get the perfect set up due to Professor Sycamore and VS Seeker. Anthony almost had the game when I needed a Double Dragon to win the game or I would've decked out. I used Professor Sycamore and got the Double Dragon, one turn before he would've gotten the Xerosic. GG Anthony.

1-0-0

Round 2 ??? w/ Yveltal/Zoroark/Regirock

The game was looking good for me. I was one Lysandre away from winning the game, and then he used Lysandre on my Bronzong. I decked out and lost.

1-1-0

Round 3 ??? w/ Lucario/ Hammers

    Bronzong-DEAD. Energy-DEAD. Hawlucha-2HKO'S. Top Cut-GONE. 'Nuff said.

1-2-0

Round 4 ??? w/ Forgot

I don't remember much of this game other than I lost.

1-3-0

Round 5 ??? w/ Hippowdon

I was in a total lock. Focus Sash and resistance desert ruined my deck. GG.

Final record: 1-4-0

Place: 11th out of 17

Thanks for reading, and until next time, test on!

Tent of the month- The Hiker Biker II!

Hello fellow campers/hikers! My name is Evan Smith and today I am going to give you my tent review on the Hiker Biker II by Alpine Design!

The Tent

I love this tent. it is fairly cheap, definitely will last you a long time, and gives you independent camping (I just prefer to do independent camping, if you don't like to do that, you probably will not like this tent).

Weight: ~1-2 lb

How many people it fits: 1 (2 Children)

Cost: $30-$40

For Camping Purposes

I would definitely use this tent for regular camping. It is small enough to fit into a trunk without trying to shove it in, has enough room to out your stuff in, and is easy to set up. The downsides are that it only fits one person, requires stakes to set up, and it is hard to change in.

Rating: 8/10

For Backpacking Purposes

I used this tent in my intro to backpacking hike, and it was definitely a good tent (even with a second person). This is very lightweight by backpacking standards, small and compact, you don't have an oversized tent, and when dew hits, it gets on the rain fly, not the actual tent (also learned from my intro to backpacking hike). The only downside to this is that if you are group hiking and you want to share a tent, you won't be able to share it.

Rating: 9.8/10

Overall, I think this is a perfect tent for either camping or hiking. Thanks for reading, and until next time, camp/hike on!

"Double Whammy"- a back-to-back Double Cities Report!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! My name is Evan Smith and today, I am going to give my report on two cities, Hampton and Norfolk.

Hampton

Never try to go rouge, it will fail you, unless you are Ross Cawthon.

I thought I was making a good meta call, I was wrong. I made a deck called Banette/Crawdaunt, hoping that an evolution and energy lock would work. It was a very tight deck. It (in theory) had good match-ups against Vespiquen, Tyrantrum, and Mega Evolution decks. Here's the list I played:

Pokemon-18

4 Shuppet

4 Banette

4 Corphish

4 Crawdaunt

1 Jirachi

1 ShayminEX

Trainers-38

4 Professor Sycamore

4 Shauna

2 AZ

1 Lysandre

1 Team Flare Grunt

4 VS Seeker

4 Super Scoop Up

4 Enhanced Hammer

4 Crushing Hammer

4 Level Ball

3 Muscle Band

2 Ultra Ball

1 Super Rod

I played in 4 Rounds of Swiss with 30 minutes plus 3 turns.

Round 1 ??? w/ Yveltal/Vespiquen

I started off well. I managed to get most of his energy discarded and he was close to decking out. He used Baby Yveltal to get energies back but usually I would discard them. Sadly I lost because I played Team Flare Grunt and Shauna in the same turn, my hand went into the deck, and it was irreversible, even though I didn't start shuffling. WATCH YOUR PLAYS PEOPLE.

0-1-0

Round 2 ??? w/ Speed Entei

Not much to say here, the game was about 4 turns for both players and I dead drew the whole game. Fatality.

0-2-0

Round 3 ??? w/ Machamp/Ariados

I got a perfect set up the way my deck was intended to. My opponent didn't get her energies out in time. When she did get an attack out, it would be the only attack for a while. She also didn't use Ariados a lot. She used Lysandre so many times to bring up a Corphish or a Jirachi to stall it wasn't even funny. And every time she did that I got it out of the active position. Finally a win.

1-2-0

Round 4 ??? w/ Raichu/ Mega ManectricEX

I dead drew the whole game, didn't attack early enough, and didn't get his energy off in time. Wasted.

Final Record: 1-3-0

Place: 10th out of 11

Norfolk

                                                             Nobody stoppin' me!

Breakthrough Booster Pack PTCGO code: NQ3-Y3CD-J4Y-D8Y

I was (very) devastated with Banette/Crawdaunt not doing so well. I was searching the internet to find any good decks that I might want to try out and play. I found Ryan Sabelhaus' TyrantrumEX list online, here is the list that I played (exact list other than one card):

Pokemon-17

4 Bronzor

3 Bronzong

2 TyrantrumEX

2 GiratinaEX

2 ShayminEX

1 AegislashEX

1 Zorua

1 Zoroark

1 Smeargle

Trainers-32

4 Professor Sycamore

2 Judge

2 Lysandre

1 Giovanni's Scheme

1 AZ

1 Hex Maniac

4 VS Seeker

4 Ultra Ball

3 Battle Compressor

2 Muscle Band

2 Float Stone

1 Switch

1 Level Ball

1 Buddy-Buddy Rescue

3 Sky Field

Energy-11

6 Metal

4 Double Dragon

1 Fighting

I played 3 rounds of swiss with 30 minutes +3 turns and juniors and seniors were mixed together (I only went up against seniors!)

Round 1 Anthony Cardella w/ Vileplume/Regice

The game was a close one. We went back and forth. Then something (Sorry, I can't tell you all this part!) happened, and I won.

1-0-0

Round 2 ??? w/ SeismitoadEX/GiratinaEX

I opened with AegislashEX and drew passed (intentionally) the whole game. Up until the end where al my Sky Fields were gone and he had a Silent Lab in play while attacking with Giratina. He used Judge to keep his deck full so that was a game loss.

1-1-0

Round 3 ??? w/ Night March

This was seriously an intense game. Buddy-Buddy Rescue came in clutch for getting a Lampent back in her hand early on in the game. She won the prize trade but in the end, a Lysandre and a fully powered up TyrantrumEX attacking LugiaEX won me the game. GG.

Final Record: 2-1-0

Place: 4th out of 7th (Stupid resistance)

Thanks for reading, and until next time, test on!

Merry Christmas guys and gals!

Hello fellow Pokemon players/Clashers/Campers/Hikers! I just wanted to thank you all for over 500 views today on Christmas. Seriously, it is a Christmas miracle to reach over 2000 views. Today in this article I am going to give a Clash of Clans special base, a "Freezing" Pokemon deck, and a gear review!

O' Christmas Tree

This is my custom Christmas Tree base. It is really just a base meant for fun purposes, not serious trophy pushing or anything. Here are the armies it defends against: "WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!" Its doesn't defend against anything but is kind of tough to 3 star.

Trophy pushing: 0/5

Farming: 0/5

For fun: 5/5

Freeze Lock

This is a Christmas special deck that gets an -EX and item lock (Shout out to Anthony Cardella for giving me the idea to do this deck!). I would definitely play this deck if my meta had a lot of -EX decks. Here is a list made by PokeDecks:

Pokémon - 17
3 Gloom AOR 2
3 Oddish AOR 1
2 Miltank FLF 83
4 Regice AOR 24
3 Vileplume AOR 3
2 Shaymin-EX ROS 77
Trainer Cards - 33
4 Trainers’ Mail ROS 92
3 Lysandre FLF 90
4 Forest of Giant Plants AOR 74
4 AZ PHF 91
4 Professor Birch’s Observations PRC 134
4 Ultra Ball ROS 93
4 Professor Sycamore XY 122
4 Muscle Band XY 121
2 Level Ball NXD 89
Energy - 10
6 Water Energy XY 134
4 Double Colorless Energy PHF 111

I like the overall consistency with this list. It has high counts of almost everything, and not many other cards to ruin consistency.

Good Gear

This is a very lightweight cooking set. It comes with two small cups, a 24 oz. pt for boiling, and a strainer. The pot can also hold small propane tanks and the lighter too.

The pot is made of stainless steel, and the cups made of plastic.

I would use this for backpacking, camping, and really any outdoor activity. I also use it to measure water and other liquids.

Camping: 9.5/10

Hiking: 9.5/10

Overall: 9.5

Once again thank you for the tremendous amount of views today, and helping me reach my 2000 view milestone. Thanks for reading, and until next time, test/clash/hike/camp on!

"False Cape"- An Intro Backpacking trip with Troop 212!

Hello fellow hikers! My name is Evan Smith and today I am going to talk about my two-day intro to backpacking trip with my troop. This was on the dates of December 11th, 2015 through December 13, 2015.

Saturday

Picture taken by my dad.

We started off the hike at about 9:00 AM. We hiked on the road for a little bit and took a very brief break at the visitors center. After that we went onto a gravel road and (Not giving any names here!) almost stepped on a snake! While he backed away from the snake other members from the troop went closer to take a picture of it with its fangs open. What was hilarious to me about the snake is that it did a 90 degree turn of its head and kept its fangs open the whole time. It was like saying "Take your silly pictures now!".

After that we weren't allowed to tread on the grass. We passed by a trailer park only to find out that we couldn't enter a bird refuge (Which was inconveniently placed on the East Dike trail. So we went back and went up an observation deck that we thought would take us to the beach but it didn't. So we went all the way back and then made it to the beach to hike on. 2 hours WASTED.

Then we started hiking on the beach. I enjoyed walking dangerously close to the shore line and enjoyed the dolphins and the waves. I ended up getting one boot and a sock completely soaked. we saw a dead shark, a few dead jellyfish, and some scouts found a few sand dollars.

Picture taken by our SPL, Ben Shearer.

We finished up on the beach, and refilled on water. The sign said that our campsite was only .5 miles away. After hiking ~2 miles we finally get to the campsites, AFTER reaching the sign. I had to share my small one person tent with (Not giving any names here!). We put up the "Pig" bags and played mafia, I didn't stay up to play Rich Man Poor Man. I also had to share my one person tent with someone else.

Sunday

Picture taken by our SPL, Ben Shearer.

When I was ready to drain out my cooking water, I walked out into the field, and heard our Scoutmaster yelling at me "Get back to the table!" I looked around and saw a wild pig (The one in the picture) hiding in the trees. I was scared to death so I walked (If I had ran it would have most likely chased me) back to the table. The pig came in and out repeatedly. The furthest it ever went out was in the middle of the field, where it turned back around and ran quickly.

The complaint rock, AKA trash bag, was passed on many times. Shout out to Joey for taking it from me when Sean gave me it on purpose! Nothing else really happened other than the adults walking ahead and saving us ~1.5 more miles of walking. Shout out to our Scoutmaster for the idea!

"9th? Wasted...."- A 9th place Richmond cities report!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! My name is Evan Smith and today, I am going to give you my 9th place cities report for Richmond!

D@T Deck tho

                                                                    Good ol' Vespiquen.

I chose to play Vespiquen/Eeveelutions mainly because I am comfortable with the deck. Here is the list:

Pokemon-26

4 Combee

4 Vespiquen

3 Eevee

3 Flareon

1 Vaporeon

1 Jolteon

2 Spinarak

2 Ariados

4 Unown

2 ShayminEX

Trainers-27

3 Professor Sycamore

1 Professor Birch's Observations

1 Lysandre

1 Xerosic

1 Blacksmith

4 VS Seeker

4 Ultra Ball

3 Level Ball

4 Battle Compressor

2 Acro Bike

1 Trainers' Mail

2 Parallel City

Energy-7

4 Double Colorless

3 Fire

This is basically the deck I showcased in one of my previous articles, just with two Parallel City inetsead of 2 Lysandre and a Jamming Net.

The Report

                                                                Best. Game. Ever.

I had an amazing time at cities with 9 Juniors, 13 seniors, and 55 Masters, making 77 total. The tournament style was one round swiss with a 30 minute +3 turns time limit.

Round 1 ??? w/ Bronzong

This round my opponent started off with Jirachi and 2 Bronzong. He only got one Stardust the entire game and he dead drew the rest. Easy win.

Record: 1-0-0

Round 2 ??? w/ Tyrantrum/ Aegislash

My opponent used Aegislash to wall the whole game, I sniped Bronzors, and made one misplay that cost me the whole game. That misplay was that I sacrificed the Combee without the Double Colorless and I only had one Vespiquen left, so I was left with no more snipes, and no way to attack. Game over.

Record: 1-1-0

Round 3 Anthony Cardella w/ Vileplume/Regice/Miltank

This round decided it all, if I tied or won I still have a chance at top cut. If not, I won't make top cut. I offer an ID and it was declined. So we played it out and I ended up getting the early game lead and then it went to Anthony's favor resulting in a loss. GG Anthony.

Record: 1-2-0

Round 4 ??? w/ Seismitoad/ Crawdaunt

This is the round that I took my picture of. I laid out how many Pokemon were in the discard to show the damage I did. Since I knew I wasn't going to make cut, I kinda had a lot of "Fun" with my last two rounds. The game went fully in my favor, the bee overpowered the toad. PLOT TWIST IN THE GAME: We actually ended with an ID no matter who won.

Record: 1-2-1

Round 5 ??? w/ RaichuBats

This game I really didn't care if I won or lost. I started with ShayminEX and draw passed to see how long ShayminEX would last.

Turns Lasted: 2

After actual game Turns lasted: 2

Record: 1-3-1, 9th place.

Thanks for reading, and until next time, test on!

     A: Vespiquen/Yveltal

     Q: What was your record?

     A: 4-1-0

"Roller Coaster"- My First Section Hike on the Appalachian Trail!

Hello fellow hikers! My name is Evan Smith, and today, I am going to talk about my 34 mile section hike on the Appalachian Trail that I did with my dad!

Wednesday

We left the house, and stayed at Bears Den Hostel for the night. We slept in the Alpine Peak 2 tent, and that was when I found out I accidentally left the tent in the bag wet for a month! It didnt mold much, and worked well for us anyways.

Thursday (Officially Day 1)

We had our shuttle take us from Bears Den to Route 522, and we started there. My pack weighed 23.7 lb. and my Dad's pack weighed 33 lb. We were feeling very optimistic at that moment, and we started off on the trail.

We ended up getting a very steep uphill with switch-backs, by ~500-~700 ft. I started complaining, In a few hours we finished the treacherous uphill going up about ~1,800-~1,900 ft. high. We also passed by a group of trail runners twice (Same people), and a family who was pretty much disrespecting other people (Being loud and obnoxious, then again there was hardly anyone on the trail but those are still bad habits.). Then it was a very nice downhill and on our way down we stopped by the Denton Shelter. It was redone only a few years ago, so it looked nice, was like a house, had bunk beds, and a patio. That was personally my favorite shelter the whole hike.

We also stopped at the Denton Shelter for lunch, which was Beef Stew (Thanks Mr.Myers for supplying most of our food!), and there were a trio of trail runners with a beagle, and dang that beagle can bark.Since the Denton Shelter was only 5 miles in, we kept going. We hiked some more and hiked through a meadow that may look nice, but my Dad and I called it the stairway from h***, lesson learned: Don't judge a book by its cover.

We continued hiking upwards, which was brutal at the time, and then started going downhill. We also went across a pretty cool landmark.

The railroad essentially marked we were close to a road and we had to go under an interstate bridge to get to the rest of the trail. When we reached the next part we stopped for a snack break, and at that moment I knew that it would've been worth the extra weight to carry and off brand (Kroger) soda, even if I really don't feel different having caffeine. And I also ate a lot of granola (Which I will regret later on, but I didn't know that I can't have granola with braces). We also crossed a neat looking bridge and went up another not as steep but still steep uphill.

While we were hiking we saw a neat looking spider, but I still don't know what species it is yet.

We finally reached the Stone Wall, which perfectly describes my brother, and that marked a nice downhill. Not much happened going downhill. We then reached Manassas Gap Shelter, and we had a nice fire, food, water, and, most importantly, sleep. Best. Thanksgiving. Feast. Ever. (I had freeze dried Mac n' Cheese and Dad had Broccoli Rice.

Miles Hiked this day: 11 miles

Friday (Day 2)

We had a nice start, other than our leaving time, in the morning, sadly leaving by 9:00 A.M. It only went a steep uphill for about ~50-~100 ft. and then most of that part was downhill, until 9:30 A.M. and it started going uphill again. We had another snack break and then my bracket broke off because of eating granola.

Dad went to Dicks Dome shelter, since it was only (again) 5 miles in we couldn't stay there, while I stayed for a break, and it seemed like a nice shelter. We then started hiking a steep uphill. We went one mile and it took us ONE FREAKING HOUR to get through the mostly flat ground, that was legal for people to hunt in. We then made it to Sky Meadows State Park and hiked through there. we then crossed a road and Dad noticed this was one of the routes we drove on to get to Bears Den! We then had another snack break and used up the soda Dad brought.

We survived the steep uphill, went over two more uphills and downhills, and made it to Rod Hollow Shelter! I found a book there called "Matagorda" and I stayed on the second floor. I also enjoyed having Beef Stroganoff with Noodles, and that was when Dad started complaining heavily about his knees.

Miles hiked this day: 14 miles

Saturday (Day 3)

In the morning, we ate Eggs and "Baco" Bits (no "n" here, because it was just vegetable protein) and it tasted pretty darn good 3 days into the hike. We (as usual) left at 9:00 A.M. And by then it was up to if Dad's knees can make it through the trail. So we (slowly) hiked 3 miles into the hike (just walking, no good views or landmarks) and we had to cross a route that I can't remember the number of. And it was a gravel road! While we were going uphill, we had a break, and talked with a lot of day hikers. We also refilled on much needed water.

On our way downhill, we passed by a backpacker and she was pretty hardcore, she used no hiking poles! But, hey, hike your own hike. I just think that's impressive. We had a nice view and then went on to a very poorly maintained section of the trail. Literally, the trail markers marked going left (and that was to a side trail, that we accidentally hiked) and the actual trail hardly had any trail markers but thankfully we could see the few worn spots (Most of it were steep, and slippery, rocks). We met another day hiker with her dog and she was going uphill! If it was tough going downhill I can't imagine uphill.

While we were going on the nice level ground we saw this tree, and I thought it was pretty neat. It was also nice having an excuse to have a small break. During our uphill hike, I started breaking down mentally and physically, it took all of Dad's encouragement to keep me going.

We made it to the Sam Moore Shelter, decided to stay there instead of the final three miles or going uphill to the campsites while eating Ramen Noodles.  I was bringing out my sleeping bag, blew up my pillow, and passed out, I didn't even get in my sleeping bag or fully bring it out!

In an hour, I wake up, find Dad chopping firewood, and sat by the big fire, while eating (again) Ramen Noodles, with Dad eating this disgusting Shepherd's Potato and Beef Stew. Then I went on a one-spider massacre because it was coming towards me on its web. Then we had a very much needed rest.

Miles hiked this day: 6 Miles

Sunday (Day 4)
Image result for My camera died meme

My camera died at this point, so I didn't take any pictures. We went back to a standard oatmeal breakfast. It was raining hard and Dad was thinking of staying at the shelter until the rain stopped. I persuaded him to leave now, because we will have more time, and we went at (the dreaded) 9:00 A.M.

We had a very steep uphill, we went slow so we were fine. Then we found the campsites and agreed we would not have been able to make it to the campsites in our condition. A steep downhill tried to stop us, and a stream with hardly any rocks to stand on tried to slow us down even more.

We went up the final uphill (The final uphill! Sadly not countdown...) and I was complaining about how low they put Bears Den on the maps when we hiked high up. But hey, we MADE IT! We had a nice celebration at McDonalds, I go my Hoopa there too (Video game, not the action figure), stopped by gas stations, got a Slurpee, and went to REI.

Miles hiked this day: 3 1/2 Miles

Conclusion

I had an awesome time on the trail. It crushed some of Dad's dreams, and it showed me the true meaning of level ground. Thanks for reading, and until next time, hike on!
