"SeismiTroll"- A First Place League Challenge Report!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! Evan here and today I am going to give you a 1st tournament report about the Ol' Lavaridge League Challenge.

The Deck that I Chose

                                                              The game changer.

So I chose to play Seismitoad/Crawdaunt because it seemed like a really good Seniors meta-game call. It was. Literally, 2 out of 3 opponents  only got 1 attack off during each game. The strategy of this deck is to get rid of your opponents energy and lock them out of items. Here's the list (Note:This is basically Grant Manley's list but with a darkness energy. I made that change because there was a Pyroar player there.):

Pokemon-13

4 Corphish PRC 42

4 Crawdaunt PRC 92

4 SeismitoadEX FFI 20

1 JirachiEX PLB 60

Trainers-42

4 Professor Juniper

4 N

4 AZ

2 Lysandre

1 Xerosic

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

4 VS Seeker

4 Super Scoop Up

4 Enhanced Hammer

3 Crushing Hammer

3 Head Ringer

3 Muscle Band

3 Ultra Ball

1 Dive Ball

1 Computer Search

Energy-5

4 Double Colorless

1 Darkness

The 3 Round Report

                                                     They all would've said "YES!!!!!!!!"

So now for the tournament report. Just so you know all the games are pretty similar.

Round 1- VS. Billy w/ TDK with Lugia Tech

In this game all I had to do is get Head Ringers on his ThundurusEX's and get rid of every single energy. He got 1 Frost Spear off and that was it.

1-0-0

Round 2- VS. Marcos w/ Flareon/Leafeon/Empoleon

This game was even easier. We tried to ID but the Judge said we hve to play it out and we can't ID before starting the game. All he drew were Item cards the entire time and only got 1 Energy Crush out and then I got a Heads on Super Scoop Up.

2-0-0

Round 3- VS. Anthony w/ Yveltal/Toad/Raichu

This was the toughest game I had. I offered an ID but he declined. I got a T2 set-up with Head Ringers on his Toads. I also put 1 Head Ringer on his YveltalEX. He attacked me with Raichu, I evolved Corphish and got rid of his DCE and Lysandre'ed up his benched YveltalEX with no energy and with a Head Ringer on. He asked "Why didn't you take the KO on the Raichu?" I replied "Because Yveltal is more of a threat than Raichu" He said "Smart." I had to hit his YveltalEX 4 Times to KO it. He then promoted Raichu and it was KO'ed and I KO'ed another YveltalEX. he offered to ID but I declined. Then I KO'ed a Baby Yveltal for the game. But here's a lesson: DON'T TAKE AN EASY KO JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, GO FOR THE THREATS.

3-0-0

Overall, I was satisfied with my results, thanks for reading!

"Flareon! Really? Why is it special? 'Cause it got BATS!!!!!"- A look at MY version of Flareon!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! Evan here, and today I am going to talk about a rogue deck I made up called Flareon/Bats!

Why I chose to make this Deck

The bad match-up to it made me wonder...

So in testing with my Flareon/Empoleon deck, I found one problem:Toad. It was a horrendous match-up. It just gets rid of my items and I never draw a Supporter after Quaking Punch hits. So I thought "Well, if I need to get damage on SeismitoadEX, why don't I try NOT using Flareon and use Leafeon and a Pokemon that costs no Energy to get damage on the board?"

The first Pokemon that came to mind was Crobat. So I tested and tested, and finally got a smooth running list that handles Seismitoad very well.

How it works

It makes the Toad much easier to play against.

The strategy of the deck is to go 1 of 3 ways.

Strategy 1: This is the most common option. You discard all your Pokemon in favor of Vengeance. Very easy and straightforward to do.

Strategy 2: This is a fairly compicated strategy. You want to attack with Flareon while evolving your Bats line. What you want to do is get 1-2 Zubat in play. Then, you evolve one of tem into Golbat. Finally, evolve the Golbat into Crobat. The second Zubat is to ensure that you will get at least one Golbat into play.

Strategy 3: This is the most complex of the strategies. This is also the strategy to use against Toad. You have to get at least 2 Leafeon, 1 Flareon, and at least 2 Crobats for this to work. You want to get Leafeon out ASAP. You also need to get the Bat parts out as fast as you can so you can start getting damage on the Toads. And for the 1 Flareon, that is just Lysandre bait to keep your Leafeon alive for one more turn.

Why it could be good for Week 2

                                                                Exeggutor is rising.

With Exeggutor rising in popularity Flareon is a good choice. My version doesn't rely heavily on supporters, hit for weakness,  and can deal damage without energy.

It also has good match-ups across the board. and it is a rogue deck. People won't know how to play against this variant.

So all in all, I think that this is a good meta call.

Time to see d@t dek.

                                                       Time for Flareon's Vengeance!

So I've talked about the deck for long enough. I will now show you the list. Here it is:

Pokemon-26

4 Eevee PLF 90

4 Flareon PLF 12

3 Leafeon PLF 11

4 Zubat PLS 53

3 Golbat PHF 32

3 Crobat PHF 33

3 Audino BCR 126

1 Mr. Mime PLF 47

1 JirachiEX PLB 60

Trainers-29

4 Professor Sycamore

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

4 VS Seeker

4 Random Receiver

4 Acro Bike

4 Battle Compressor

4 Ultra Ball

2 Silver Bangle

1 Town Map

1 Computer Search

Energy-5

4 Double Colorless

1 Grass

Now for the Match-ups:

LandorusEX/Bats- Slightly Unfavorable 40%-60%

It can go either good or bad for you. If you can get a Mime out, get 2 Eevees on the bench, and put Zubat in the active, you have a decent shot at winning.

Mirror- Slightly Favorable 60%-40%

The Crobat line really helps you out with this one. If you can get enough Pokemon in the discard while evolving the Crobat line, you have basically won.

Yveltal- Favorable 65%-35%

Because you can snipe their benched Yveltals, it can go very easily in your favor.

VirGen- Very Favorable 90%-10%

As long as they don't get Plasma Frigate out, you win.

Mega Gardevoir- Even 50%-50%

If they get a Mega Gardevoir out, you lose. If you get fully set-up before they do, you win.

Exeggutor- Slightly Favorable 55%-45%

If the Exeggutor player gets a T2 Blockade and energy lock, you're screwed, if they don't, they-re screwed.

Donphan- Unfavorable to Favorable ?-?

If the Donphan player plays a 1-1 Primal Groudon line, you're screwed. If not, you have basically won.

Seismitoad- Very Unfavorable to Favorable ?-?

It really depends on the variant of Seismitoad. If it is Seismitoad/Crawdaunt, you basically lose due to energy denial. If it is ToadPuff you have a shot at winning unless it is the energy denial version. Seismitoad/Garbodor is a very Favorable match-up due to a lot of energy being played. Seismitoad/Jynx is a decent match-up if you can get the full set up in time.

Well I hope that you enjoyed reading my article. Until next time!

"Emprizisect"-A look at a New Rogue I made!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! Evan here and today I'm going to talk about my Emprizisect deck that I came up with.

GG, on to Week 2 of Regionals

A really good play for Week 2.

So the Rogue I made is called Emprizisect if you haven't noticed. It is a meta-call deck because it is designed for a specific meta-game.

Its good match-ups are Flareon, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, Seismitoad, and Night March.

Its even match-ups are Pyroar, Landorus/Bats, Mega Gardevoir, Straight Fairies, and Metal.

It doesn't have any auto-losses and I say it is a solid play for week 2 of Spring Regionals.

Enough Talking, I wanna see the list!

Makes slightly unfavorable match-ups to even, and favorable to more favorable.

So enough rambling about the match-ups. You most likely want to see my list and just a note, the list usually sets up a T1 Empoleon on average, 2 out of 6 times, or 1/3. This list takes A LOT of skill to play, so if you want to play this deck for Week 2, I recommend that you practice playing this deck. Here's the list:

Pokemon-13

4 VirizionEX PLB 9

3 GenesectEX PLB 11

2 JirachiEX PLB 60

2 Exeggcute PLF 4

2 Empoleon DEX 29

Trainers-33

4 Professor Sycamore

1 N

1 Skyla

1 Colress

1 Shadow Triad

1 Archie's Ace in the Hole

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

4 VS Seeker

4 Ultra Ball

4 Battle Compressor

4 Acro Bike

2 Muscle Band

2 Switch

1 Professor's Letter

1 Town Map

1 G Booster

Energy-14

9 Grass

2 Water

3 Plasma

Now, time to cover some weird card counts:

2 JirachiEX, 2 Exeggcute, 2 Empoleon

This is so I have a good count of all of them so if one of any of them are prized, I still have 1. It is also essential to use them for Ace in the Hole.

4 Professor Sycamore, 1 N, 1 Skyla, 1 Colress, 1 Shadow Triad, 1 Archie's Ace in the Hole, and 1 Lysandre's Trump Card

The Supporter line is low mainly because I need to Ace in the Hole to get Empoleon, and I run 1 Skyla, 1 Colress, and 1 Shadow Triad for specific situations, and they can always be put in the discard with Battle Compressor for VS Seeker use.

0 Lysandre, 3 Plasma Energy

I run 0 Lysandre to keep a low supporter count, and only 3 Plasma Energy because all I really use is 1 Plasma Energy per game because I need as many Grass energy as possible.

4 Battle Compressor, 4 Acro Bike

This is so I burn through my deck and so I can get useless cards and Empoleon in my discard pile.

Thanks for reading!

"The new and improved ToadPuff"- A look at a wacky SeismitoadEX/Slurpuff deck!

Hello fellow Pokémon players! Evan here and today I'm going to talk about a cool SeismitoadEX/Slurpuff deck that I made up.

My Thoughts on the Deck

The source of ultimate draw power.

I think the deck could be viable and popular because:

1.It is a very consistent deck.

2.It is very disruptive.

3.It is not hard to play.

With those factors in play, this deck is widely played and can have a variety of tech supporters, heck, look at two VERY different ToadPuff lists: http://sixprizes.com/2015/04/20/tastes-good-top-4-oregon-states-report-with-seismitoad-slurpuff/ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt5G7hH6J2o just as an example.

The deck also has solid match-ups against the entire board with a few 40-60 match-ups (Primal Groudon and VirGen are auto-losses though.). So this deck should be able to have a place in the current meta.

Overall, this deck is completely viable and a good play for most tournaments.

My (VERY UNUSUAL VERSION) Deck

                                                      Makes the deck really weird.

My version of the deck has 4 Random Receiver to maximize my chances of getting a Professor Sycamore. It also has a heavy Roller Skates and Acro Bike count to make even faster. Here's the list:

Pokémon-10

3 SeismitoadEX FFI 20

3 Swirlix PHF 68

3 Slurpuff PHF 69

1 JirachiEX PLB 60

Trainers-47

4 Professor Sycamore

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

4 VS Seeker

4 Random Receiver

4 Acro Bike

4 Roller Skates

4 Hypnotoxic Laser

4 Ultra Ball

4 Crushing Hammer

3 Muscle Band

3 Head Ringer

2 Float Stone

1 Enhanced Hammer

1 Town Map

1 Computer Search

3 Virbank City Gym

Energy-3

3 Double Colorless

How I thought of this deck was by looking at a SeismitoadEX/Jynx deck and wondered "If that deck is consistent, why not try it with EVEN MORE draw power with Slurpuff?" So I tested and tested, and I got this. Although the 3 Double Colorless looks bad, you really only need 2 per game, and with Town Map and Lysandre's Trump Card, that makes it even easier to get one.

     Thanks for reading!

"Really, you just want to Jynx me, don't you?"-A look at SeismitoadEX/Jynx Mothers Day Special!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! Happy Mothers Day! Evan here and today I'm going to talk about my version of SeismitoadEX/Jynx as my Mothers Day Special.

The Viability of it

The kiss of victory or defeat.

I think it could be a REALLY good deck in the right meta-game. But, on the other hand, if you predict the meta-game wrong, it will fail miserably.

I also believe that if you go up against a Mega Rayquaza deck, make sure that they don't set-up and they don't do a lot of damage, which means that you can heal off the damage that they did. But the deck has a HORRENDOUS match-up against VirGen as most Toad decks do. Thankfully, the toad mirror match is GREAT.

It is a must that you set-up ASAP because if not, you probably lose.

All in all, I say it is a very risky deck that either wins quickly, or loses quickly.

My Version of the Deck

Super Scoop up makes it more annoying.

My version of the deck plays Super Scoop up to fully heal a damaged SeismitoadEX. For an example of this cards use, say you have a SeismitoadEX with 170 damage on it. Your opponent has a YveltalEX fully powered up that has 150 damage on it and one on the bench with 2 energy on it. It is your turn and you Super Scoop Up and get heads. You just saved your SeismitoadEX from getting knocked out. Here's my list:

Pokemon-10

4 SeismitoadEX FFI 20

4 Jynx FFI 37

1 JirachiEX PLB 60

1 KeldeoEX LTR 45

Trainers-46

4 Professor Sycamore

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

3 Random Receiver

4 VS Seeker

4 Roller Skates

4 Acro Bike

3 Bicycle

4 Hypnotoxic Laser

3 Muscle Band

3 Float Stone

3 Super Scoop Up

3 Ultra Ball

1 Dive Ball

1 Town Map

1 Max Potion

1 Computer Search

3 Virbank City Gym

Energy-4

4 Double Colorless

"First Place"- A First Place League Challenge Report!

Hello fellow Pokemon players! Evan here and today I am going to talk about the YveltalEX/SeismitoadEX/Raichu deck that took me to First Place at a League Challenge.

Gotta Give the Deck First

I only use Promos if the -EX has a Promo form.

I want to give you my list because it is actually way different than the one that I posted in my previous article. What I think is funny is that all the -EX's that could be in promo form EVERYTHING MUST BE IN PROMO FORM (Other than Baby Yveltal). The deck is just straight consistent too. Here's the list:

Pokemon-15

3 YveltalEX PR XY08

3 SeismitoadEX FFI 20

2 DarkraiEX PR BW46

2 Pikachu XY 42

2 Raichu XY 43

1 Yveltal XY 78

1 KeldeoEX PR BW61

1 JirachiEX PLB 60

Trainers-34

4 Professor Juniper

4 N

3 Colress

2 Lysandre

1 Lysandre's Trump Card

3 VS Seeker

4 Acro Bike

4 Hypnotoxic Laser

3 Muscle Band

2 Ultra Ball

1 Computer Search

3 Virbank City Gym

Energy-11

7 Darkness

4 Double Colorless

The Fuzzy Report

The most crucial card in the Tournament.

Round 1- Sigilyph/AegislashEX W

My opponent was trying out his Rogue Sigilyph/AegislashEX to lock his opponents. Sadly, I used continuous Hypnotoxic Lasers and Raichu to take down the Sigilyph, then I used a Yveltal with 5 Darkness energy to KO his AegislashEX.

Round 2-Mega GardevoirEX/Aromatisse W

The match is actually on Youtube:

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTA6e1-Xvsc

Round 3- Mega ManectricEX/Crobats ID

My opponent was Nate and he is a master. We looked at the pairings and realized that we were the only 2-0 in the tournament, so we ID'ed to get First place in both divisions.

Final Record 2-0-1

Overall, I was happy to get First place and 15 Championship points. Hope you enjoyed reading!
