Hello fellow Pokemon players! Evan here and today I am going to give you a 1st tournament report about the Ol' Lavaridge League Challenge.
The Deck that I Chose
The game changer.
So I chose to play Seismitoad/Crawdaunt because it seemed like a really good Seniors meta-game call. It was. Literally, 2 out of 3 opponents only got 1 attack off during each game. The strategy of this deck is to get rid of your opponents energy and lock them out of items. Here's the list (Note:This is basically Grant Manley's list but with a darkness energy. I made that change because there was a Pyroar player there.):
Pokemon-13
4 Corphish PRC 42
4 Crawdaunt PRC 92
4 SeismitoadEX FFI 20
1 JirachiEX PLB 60
Trainers-42
4 Professor Juniper
4 N
4 AZ
2 Lysandre
1 Xerosic
1 Lysandre's Trump Card
4 VS Seeker
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Enhanced Hammer
3 Crushing Hammer
3 Head Ringer
3 Muscle Band
3 Ultra Ball
1 Dive Ball
1 Computer Search
Energy-5
4 Double Colorless
1 Darkness
The 3 Round Report
They all would've said "YES!!!!!!!!"
So now for the tournament report. Just so you know all the games are pretty similar.
Round 1- VS. Billy w/ TDK with Lugia Tech
In this game all I had to do is get Head Ringers on his ThundurusEX's and get rid of every single energy. He got 1 Frost Spear off and that was it.
1-0-0
Round 2- VS. Marcos w/ Flareon/Leafeon/Empoleon
This game was even easier. We tried to ID but the Judge said we hve to play it out and we can't ID before starting the game. All he drew were Item cards the entire time and only got 1 Energy Crush out and then I got a Heads on Super Scoop Up.
2-0-0
Round 3- VS. Anthony w/ Yveltal/Toad/Raichu
This was the toughest game I had. I offered an ID but he declined. I got a T2 set-up with Head Ringers on his Toads. I also put 1 Head Ringer on his YveltalEX. He attacked me with Raichu, I evolved Corphish and got rid of his DCE and Lysandre'ed up his benched YveltalEX with no energy and with a Head Ringer on. He asked "Why didn't you take the KO on the Raichu?" I replied "Because Yveltal is more of a threat than Raichu" He said "Smart." I had to hit his YveltalEX 4 Times to KO it. He then promoted Raichu and it was KO'ed and I KO'ed another YveltalEX. he offered to ID but I declined. Then I KO'ed a Baby Yveltal for the game. But here's a lesson: DON'T TAKE AN EASY KO JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, GO FOR THE THREATS.
3-0-0
Overall, I was satisfied with my results, thanks for reading!
If you enjoy Magic: The Gathering, then this is the place for you! I mainly play Red, as it is the most affordable and fun color (in my humble opinion). NOTICE: IF THE WEBSITE SAYS IT IS NOT SECURE, PLEASE ADD https:// IN FRONT OF IT.
